It is with great sadness that the family announces the passing of Lewis Wahlbrink on Monday 04/30/2018 from an illness of Leukemia at the age of 86. He was predeceased by his first wife Joan (Hendren) and second wife Iris (Bodine) and his son Richard, wife Kim (Haughton). He will be forever remembered by his daughter, Kathryn and husband John (McNew), 5 Grand children John Pepper, wife Amy, Troy, Ryan, wife Katrina, Elizabeth and husband Erik Yurkin, and Cady, husband Chris Reimer and 6 great grandchildren, Shae, Trenton, Ayla, Issac, Maddie, and Avery. Lewis Wahlbrink was born and raised in Yakima, WA attending Davis High School where he enjoyed playing baseball. After graduation, he joined the Marines and was shipped off to Oceanside, CA where he learned how to be tough and rugged. As a marine, he was sent over seas to fight in the Korean War. During his campaign with the Korean War, his brother Glenn who joined the Navy, was also part of the same war. The two of them have shared many a war stories and are glad to be back home. After Dad was discharged from the Marines, he decided to stay in Southern California and went to work for the Sante Fe Railroad. Working for the railroad, he traveled up and down the southern coast line and enjoyed the beautiful pacific ocean scenery, and also traveled inland throughout the desert area. He retired from the railroad, returned to the great northwest, and opened a glass business, known as Red City Glass. His tough and rugged demeanor proved quite useful when it came to developing the business. But as time marches on, Dad sold the business, moved to Mabton, WA and became interested in the art of grapes and wine making. There was lots of fun, plenty of parties, but Dad decided this was not for him and became a snow bird, traveling back and forth to Nevada and Arizona. Dad enjoyed the open road, sitting by a peaceful river, and a good John Wayne movie. A military service in memory of Dad will be held on Thursday 05/10 at 1:oopm at Tahoma National Cemetery, located at 18600 SE 240th St, Kent WA 98042.

Iris BODINE. Iris Bodine passed comfortably and peacefully with family at hand Wednesday November 17, 2010. She was 73. Iris was born on December 23, 1936 in Everett, WA, the daughter of Gustave Waldemar and Lena Olive Bodine. She was raised in Lake Stevens, WA and graduated from Bellingham High School, a proud alumni of '54. Iris, husband Ken Lohman, daughter Lori, and son Kevin later moved to Kennewick, WA where she worked for Kennewick Education Association. Iris served on the Tri-Cities Water Follies Board, sponsoring the Atomic Cup hydroplane races, Blue Angels and Miss Tri-Cities pageants. She was active in the National Federation of Junior Women's Club, serving as State President with visits to the White House to meet first ladies Pat Nixon and Betty Ford. Iris later moved to Bellevue, Washington where she was executive secretary to the president of Alaska Airlines and later executive assistant to the office of Public Affairs with PACCAR. One of her proudest achievements was working with Dr. Pat Smith relocating young women and children refugees from Vietnam. Iris later obtained her BS in Business Administration from City University. Iris was a small business owner of Sammamish Mirror and Glass with husband Lew Wahlbrink. Later they housing with Community Housing grants for low-income residents throughout Yakima Valley. Iris retired in White Salmon, WA, in the beautiful Columbia River Gorge. She had Master Gardener credentials and enjoyed her golden years with her children and families at the "Playhouse in the Gorge." She also volunteered with the Heritage Museum, Arts Council, and more. She finally decided to slow down and enjoyed her last year of life in Issaquah among many wonderful newfound friends at Providence Point. Iris is survived by daughter Lori and husband Kim Hasselbalch, grandchildren Ashley and Stefan, of Battle Ground, WA. Her son Kevin and wife Cindy Lohman, grandchildren Cara and Trevor, of Bellevue, WA. Her sister Ione Bard, niece Brenda Bard and nephew Erik Bard. A Celebration of Life service will be held on Thursday, December 2, 11:00am at Sacred Heart Church, 9460 NE 14th Street, Bellevue, WA 98004.
