SEWICKLEY - Louis Valenzi, 85, a Sewickley resident for 80 years, passed away at his home surrounded by his family on Wednesday, July 12, 2006. He was born in Gizzeria, Italy, on July 20, 1920, to the late Ralph and Elizabeth (Calabria) Valenzi. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Claire (Bellini) Valenzi, in 1997; his grandson, Donovan Scott I, and his sister, Eleanor Valenzi. Mr. Valenzi was an insurance agent for John Hancock for over 40 years, retiring in 1986. He was a member of St. James Church, their 55 Club, and was a former choir member. He was also a member of Sewickley VFW Post 5756, where he was a past commander; American Legion Post 4, and the Sons of Italy 1277. During World War II, he served in the U.S. Army Air Corps. Surviving are his beloved wife of seven years, Emily (Bodine) Lamark Valenzi; his four children, Richard Valenzi and his wife, Antoinette, Bonita Springs, Fla.; Ralph Valenzi , Sewickley; Louis S. Valenzi and his wife, Maureen, Sewickley, and Ellen Hermes and her husband, Larry, Sewickley Hills, and two stepdaughters, Mary Toscano and her husband, Jim, Alexandria, Va., and Christine Papapietro and her husband, Antony, Bonita, Calif. He was a proud grandfather of eight and step-grandfather of five. Visitation will be held today and Sunday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. in the COPELAND SEWICKLEY FUNERAL HOME, 702 Beaver St., www.copelandfuneralhomes. com, where a funeral prayer will be held Monday at 9:30 a.m., followed by a Mass at 10 a.m. in St. James Church. Burial with military honors will be in St. James Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to the Choir Fund c/o St. James Church, 200 Walnut St., Sewickley, Pa. 15143.

Emily (Bodine) Lamark Valenzi, had a quiet, kind and gentle nature. She was a Sewickley resident since 2005, formerly of Coraopolis and passed away on Friday, April 7, 2017, at Vincentian Home at the age of 94. She was born in Coraopolis Heights on December 16, 1922, to the late Frank and Marietta (Pozzetti) Bodine. She was preceded in death by her spouses, Louis Lamark and Louis Valenzi; brother, Anthony Bodine; sisters, Catherine Lutz and Natalie "Nettie" Hasper; and son-in-law, Jim Toscano; beloved mother of Mary Toscano of Alexandria, VA and Christine (Antony) Papapietro of Bonita, CA; stepmother of Richard (Antoinette) Valenzi of Walnut Creek, CA, Ralph Valenzi, Louis S. (Maureen) Valenzi, and Ellen (Larry) Hermes, all of Sewickley; cherished grandmother of five; and eight step-grandchildren; sister-in-law of Bernie Hasper of Tempe, AZ; also numerous nieces and nephews. A head cheerleader for Moon High School, she was a 1941 graduate. Emily, a former Christian mother, was a devoted member of St. James Church and their 55-plus Club. Emily had been a beautician for Boggs & Buhl Department Store and the Cafeteria Manager for St. Joseph School. Visitation Monday, April 17, 2017, and Tuesday, April 18, 2017, 2-4, 7-9 p.m. at COPELAND'S SEWICKLEY, 702 Beaver St., with prayers on Wednesday, April 19, 2017, at 9:30 a.m. followed by Mass at 10 a.m. at St. James Church. Father Thomas J. Burke will officiate. Burial will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery, Moon Township. Family suggests donations in her name to Choir Fund c/o St. James Church, 200 Walnut St., Sewickley, PA 15143. Emily's second family, who loved her dearly, was the staff of Vincentian Home and we would like to extend our thanks for their professional and compassionate care this past year.
