ALTA, Iowa---Mildred Johnson, 94, of Ankeny, Iowa, formerly of Alta, died Friday, Dec. 13, 2013, at the Taylor House Hospice of Des Moines, Iowa. Services will be 1 p.m. Monday at Nicklas D. Jensen Funeral Home of Alta. Burial will be in the Scandinavian Cemetery of Alta. Visitation will be one hour prior to services Monday, with the family present, at the funeral home.

Kenneth M. Johnson, age 96, of Ankeny, formerly of Storm Lake, passed away on Friday, May 09, 2014 at the Iowa Methodist Medical Center of Des Moines. A funeral service will be held on Monday, May 19, 2014 at 11:00 AM at the Nicklas D. Jensen Funeral Home of Alta with the Rev. Don E. Rothweiler officiating. Burial will be at the Scandinavian Cemetery of Alta. A visitation will be held one hour prior to services at the Nicklas D. Jensen Funeral Home of Alta. Kenneth M. Johnson was born December 8, 1917 to Pago and Elizabeth (Strock) Johnson in Storm Lake, Iowa. Ken was united in marriage to Mildred Bodine on September 5, 1940. They were married for 73 years before Mildred's death on December 13, 2013. The couple was blessed with two children, Alyn and Galyn. Ken entered the U.S. Army in 1943 and was honorably discharged in 1945. He worked for Bodaken/Luedke International Harvester as a salesman until his retirement. Ken enjoyed attending his family's events as well as golfing. The couple enjoyed spending their winters in Texas. Ken was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; his brothers, Richard and Darold He is survived by his sons, Alyn Johnson and wife Judy of Cedar Rapids, IA, Galyn Johnson and wife Glenda of Ankeny, IA; grandchildren, Derek Johnson and wife Lorey of Charleston, SC, Michelle Schroder and husband Mike of Ankeny, IA, and Melissa Carter of Ankeny, IA; great-grandchildren, Ryan Schroder, Malorie Schroder, Addison Carter, Casen Carter and Tinsley Johnson.

Kenneth and Mildred Johnson were buried in Scandanavian Cemetery, Alta, Buena Vista County, Iowa.
