On 12 Sept 1918, Emil Ferdinand Mark registered for the World War 1 draft in Buena Vista County. He reported he was born 2 May 1876, that Hulda E. Mark was his next of kin, and that he was a farmer. In 1920, the Mark family lived in Buena Vista County next door to Hulda's brother, Ivan Bodine and his family. Emil Mark was buried in Scandanavian Cemetery, Alta, Nokomos Township, Buena Vista County.

Funeral services were held April 7 at Trinity Lutheran church for Mrs. Hulda Mark, 76, of Alta, who passed away April 5, at Alta Memorial hospital after a lingering illness. Mrs. Mark was born Aug. 12, 1878, at Rockford, Ill. She is survived by Vennice Mark of Grand Rapids, Mich.; Wesley Mark of Rockford, Ill. Erwin Mark of Aurelia; Evans Mark of Alta, and Mrs. Charles Sanderson of Rockford, Ill.; seven
grandchildren and two great grandchildren. Two brothers, Oscar Bodine of Alta, and Ivan Bodine of Storm Lake, and a sister, Mrs. Norman Overman of Rockford, Ill., also survive.

Children: Venice (c1903), Wesley (c1905), Evelyn (c1908), Erans (c1911), Lucille (29 Aug 1912), Ervin (c1915).
