Norman A. Bodine, 87, Duluth, died Friday, Dec. 9, 2005 at Viewcrest Health Center. He was born in Duluth on Jan 16, 1918, to August and Lucy Jesmer Bodine. Norman was a graduate of Denfeld High School and was an Army Veteran of World War II, serving in North Africa and Newport News, Va. He Married Eleanor Palm in Duluth on April 15, 1942. He had worked in Duluth Linoleum and Carpet before becoming a self-employed carpetlayer for over 30 years. Norman later worked for the YMCA and also part time at Better Brands. He was a former member of St. James Catholic Church, current member of St. Lawrence Catholic Church, VFW Post 137 and West Duluth Moose Lodge 1478. Norman was an avid camper and jack of all trades. He is preceded in death by his parents and daughter Kay Bodine. He is survived by Eleanor, his wife of 63 years; son Richard (Susan), Duluth; grandchildren Tina Hood, Christopher (Mia) Bodine in Italy, Debbie (Gordon) Sharp and Tracey Rippberger; seven and one half great-grandchild. VISITATION10 a.m. until the 11 a.m. Funeral Service Tuesday at St. Lawrence Catholic Church, 2410 Morris Thomas Rd. Duluth. Burial at Oneota Cemetery. Eleanor Bodine, 92, of Duluth, died April 16, 2011 at St. Mary's Medical Center.
She was born in Baudette, Minn., on September 7, 1918 to Gustav and Anna Palm and was a graduate of Baudette High School. She married Norman Bodine in Duluth on April 15, 1942. Eleanor's work history included housework in private homes, working in the Piedmont and West Duluth Ben Franklin Stores and Hanson Ace Hardware. She enjoyed reading, crossword puzzles and making woven baskets and chairs. Eleanor was a member of St. Lawrence Catholic Church, West Duluth Women of the Moose, where she was a Sr. and Jr. Regent and member of the College of Regents and the Salem Lutheran Seniors. She is preceded in death by her parents; husband; brothers Wilfred, Wilbert and Ellis; sisters Esther Smith and Eileen Hendricks; daughter Kay and granddaughter Debbie Sue. Eleanor is survived by her son, Richard (Susan) Bodine, granddaughters Tina Hood, Tracy (Shane) Robertson, grandson Christopher (Mia) Bodine, great-grandchildren Krystina, Nikole, Tia and Danielle and great-great-granddaughter Layla. Visitation: 9 a.m. until the 10 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial Tuesday at St. Lawrence Catholic Church, Duluth. Burial at Oneota Cemetery. Arrangements by Williams-Lobermeier Funeral Home.
