Mildred Bodine Silverman, 84, a former legal secretary who was active in area folk dance and hiking groups, died of a heart attack May 26 at Holy Cross Hospital. She lived in Bethesda. Mrs. Silverman was born near Warrenton and raised in Silver Spring. She was a graduate of Montgomery Blair High School and the University of Maryland. As a young woman, she was a waitress at Mrs. K's Tollhouse in Silver Spring. She worked for the law firm of Raferty & Sons in the 1940s and 1950s. She was a member of the Bannockburn Civic Association, Washington Folkdance Group and Wanderbirds hiking organization. Her other interests included gardening, canoeing and painting. Her husband, Sam Silverman, died in 1997. Survivors include a son, Michael Silverman of Kensington, and two grandchildren.

Sam and Mildred Silverman were buried in Arlington National Cemetery, Arlington, Arlington County, Virginia.
