Obituary, The Nunda (NY) News of 25 Dec 1969.
Mrs. Agnes Bodine, 82, widow of Benjamin Bodine, formerly of Nunda, died unexpectedly in a Rochester hospital Monday evening, Dec. 22, 1969. She had had surgery earlier in the day, from which she had apparently come through O.K. but suffered a heart attack in the evening, from which she did not recover. Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Ray Morrison of Rochester, with whom she made her home; a son, Arnold Bodine, of Indianapolis, Ind.; two granddaughters; four great-grandchildren; four sisters, Mrs. Lewis Logas and Mrs. Frank Huver, both of California; Mrs. Howard Randall of Dansville and Mrs. Howard Parker of Nunda; three brothers, William Henry of Alden, Ivan Henry of Mexico and Frederick Henry of Nunda, who is in Florida for the winter; also nieces and nephews. Mrs. Bodine, a professional nurse, started the Nunda hospital in the former Rowell residence in Church street, later transferring the hospital to the former DePuy residence in Massachusetts street. She sold the hospital to a group of area business people and residents, who continue to operate, through a Board of Directors, what is now the Nunda Community Nursing Home. After she moved to Rochester, Mrs. Bodine continued in her nursing profession, working part time only. She was a frequent visitor to Nunda and had many friends here who were always glad to see her. She will be missed, not only by her family, but by a host of friends. Arrangements, which are in charge of Hedges Funeral Home, Rochester, are incomplete as The News goes to press.
