John Van Leuven, 68, who made his home in a shack in the rear of Luckenbach Basin, North Bergen, was struck and fatally injured at 8:05 last night by a bus owned by the Westwood Bus Co., when, according to Boulevard police, he stepped from the curb at Boulevard East and 35th St., North Bergen, into the path of the bus. Removed to North Bergen Hospital in an ambulance, Van Leuven was treated by Dr. Cofari for a fractured skull and right arm. He died shortly after being admitted. There were no witnesses to the accident, police say. George L. Klovekorn, 46, of 4 Hillside Av., Westwood, driver of the bus, was booked at Boulevard police headquarters on charge of manslaughter by auto. He will be arraigned before Judge Paul F. Cullum in County Traffic Court Tuesday night. Boulevard Patrolmen Neil Hughes and Richard Carner, who searched for possible clues to relatives of the dead man in his shack, found a letter under the mattress of his bed with the address of his daughter on it. The daughter, Mrs. Muessee, of 313 29th St., Union City, was notified, and her husband identified the body.
