In 1900, John Bodine was 31 and single and lived with his parents in Makating, Sullivan County working as a mason. In 1910, John and Elizabeth Bodine lived in Mamakating, Sullivan County. They had been married 5 years and had no children.

Bloomingburgh. July 28 (Special)--John H. Bodine, of this place, who has been sick for the past year, died at the home of his mother, Mrs. Mary Bodine, about 8 o'clock Wednesday morning. He was born near Searsville in April, 1869, he being in his 42nd year. He was a mason by trade and followed his occupation until last spring, when his health failed. Besides leaving his wife and mother, Mary Bodine, he leaves the following brothers and sisters: George, James A., William, and Mrs. Myrta Van Loren. One brother, Edward, died shortly after his return from the Spanish-American War. He also leaves a number of friends, who will miss his kind words and ever readiness to help. The funeral will be held at the home of his mother, Friday at 1 p. m.
