DOVER - Catherine S. Allen of Dover died Wednesday, March 7, 2001, in Silverlake Nursing Center, Dover. She was 74. Mrs. Allen was born May 30, 1926, in Dover, and raise by her aunt, Lyda Collins of Dover. In her earlier years, she worked for various area nursing homes, the latest being Courtland Manor in Dover. She loved ceramics and crocheting. Mrs. Allen was a member of Southside Baptist Church in Camden. She is preceded in death by two sons, Larry E. Bodine and John "Jackie" Bodine Jr., a sister, Mary Truitt, and a brother, William Truitt. She is survived by her husband, William Allen of Dover; three sons, Kenneth Bodine of Dover, Steven Bodine of Rising Sun, and Gary Bodine of Camden/Wyoming; three daughters, Deloris Dill of Camden/Wyoming, Sandra Morris of Hartly, and Roxanne Melvin of Camden/Wyoming; two nieces, Kathy Scleers and Becky Hodge, both of Dover; 15 grandchildren, several great-grandchildren, and a special friend, Thomas Plait. Remembrance service will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Southside Baptist Church in Camden, where friends may call one hour prior to the service. Pastor Ronald Secrest will be officiating. Burial will be in the Mt. Olive Cemetery, Sandtown.

DOVER - William E. Allen of Dover died Friday, Feb. 15, 2002, in Silver Lake Nursing Center, Dover, with family by his side. He was 87. Mr. Allen was born Oct. 1, 1914, in Willow Grove, son of the late Walter and Katie (Walls) Allen. He was an U.S. Navy veteran. Mr. Allen worked for the state of Delaware, Department of Transportation as a foreman for 18 years retiring in 1972. He farmed land in the Wyoming-Willow Grove area most of his life until failing health forced him to give it up. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Catherine S. Allen, in March of 2001, and a son, Larry E. Bodine, in February of 1994. He is survived by a son, Gary E. Bodine of Wyoming; two stepsons, Kenneth H. Bodine of Dover, and Steven R. Bodine of Rising Sun; three stepdaughters, Deloris A. Dill of Wyoming, Sandra H. Morris of Hartly, and Roxann Melvin of Camden; a brother, Thomas Allen of Dover, several grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and a host of friends. Remembrances services will be 1 p.m. Tuesday at the Trader Funeral Home, Dover, where friends may call one hour earlier. Burial will be in the Mount Olive Cemetery, Sandtown.
