In 1942, Howard Leslie Brown registered for the World War I Draft in Rosell Park, NJ. He stated he was born 3 July 1883 in Jersey City, NJ, worked for the New Jersey State Highway Department and named his wife as his next of kin.

Westfield---Funeral services for Howard L. Brown, husband of Mildred Bodine Brown of 804 Chestnut St., Roselle Park, and brother of Mrs. Harry Holoway of St. Marks Ave., were held Saturday at 2:30 p.m. in his late home. Interment was in Fairview Cemetery, Westfield. Mr. Brown died Thursday in his home after a late illness.
