On 5 June 1917, Orville Scott Holcombe registered for the World War 1 draft in West Amwell, Hunterdon County. He reported he was born 27 April 1896 in Lambertville, was single, and worked for the Lambertville Rubber Company as a rubber sole maker. In 1920-1940, Orville and Rena Holcombe lived with Rena's parents (1920-1930) in Lambertville, Huntingdon County where Orville worked in 1920 for a rubber business and in 1930 as a machine tender for a bag mill. In 1940, Orville worked there as a movie theater operator.

LAMBERTVILLE--Services for Orville S. Holcombe, 73, of 161 North Main Street, who died Saturday, will be held Tuesday at 2 p.m. at the VanHorn Funeral Home, 21 York Street. The Rev. J. Clyde Henry of First Presbyterian Church will officiate. Interment will be in Riverview Cemetery. Friends may call Monday evening. Retired from the Atlantic Products Company of Trenton, he was an exempt member of Union Fire Company No. 1. Surviving are his wife, Rena Bodine Holcombe; two sisters, Mrs. Myra Peters and Mrs. Edith Young of Trenton, and nieces and nephews.

LAMBERTVILLE--Services for Rena B. Holcombe, 81, of 161 N. Main Street, will be held Monday. Mrs. Holcombe, the widow of Orville S. Holcombe and a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Lambertville, died at her home Thursday. She is survived by several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Monday from the Van Horn Funeral Home, 21 York St., Lambertville, Rev. Donald Kilgore, pastor of the Sandy Ridge Community Church, will officiate. Burial will be in Riverview Cemetery, Lambertville. There will be no calling hours. Memorial contributions may be made to the Lambertville Ambulance and Rescue Squad.
