Notes for: Allen Sherman Bodine

From Ronny Bodine:

In 1900, Lula Bodine and her 2 children, lived in North Enid, Garfield County, Oklahoma with her brother-in-law and sister, Arthur and Florence Deford. She reported that in 6 years of marriage she had borne 2 children, both of whom were then living with her. Her husband was not present. In 1910, Lulu Bodine, now widowed (but her husband was still living), lived in Wichita, Sedgwick County, Kansas and operated a boarding house. On 17 Jan 1911 in Jasper County, Missouri she married Charles W. Kerby. In 1920, Lulu Kerby lived in Kansas City, Jackson County, Kansas. According to her Missouri death certificate, no. 1927-18521, her death was recorded as Lulu Mable Bodine, still married to Allen Sherman Bodine. She died of acute cirrhosis of the liver and was buried in Memorial Park Cemetery, Kansas City. The informant was Mrs. Edith Campbell. The names of her parents were reported as unknown to the informant. The Missouri death certificate of Allen Bodine, no. 1940-35527, reported he died in the County Home in Little Blue, Jackson County and was also buried in Memorial Park Cemetery. He was a retired carpenter, the son of J. D. Bodine of Indiana. In 1920, Allen S. Bodine, age 50 and divorced, lived with his mother in Lynn Haven, Bay County, Florida. Allen S. Bodine married Lulu M. Kerby 9 May 1924 in Kansas City, Jackson County, Missouri. It would appear that Allen and Lula Bodine divorced, Lula remarried and was either divorced again or widowed, and then married Allen Bodine again, with whom she lived until her death.

From Garfield County, Oklahoma Territory Marriage Records:
Allen S. Bodine, 25, of North Enid, Garfield Co. AND Lulu M. Wells, 24, of North Enid, Garfield Co. were married 3 Sept 1894 at Enid by Thomas J. Cook, M.G.
