The newspaper obituary of Gerald Lee Carpenter, 66, of Easton, son of Oscar and Flora Hoff Carpenter, named among his survivors sisters, Helen Bodine, of Washington and Beverly Benka of Easton. In 1940, the family of Oscar and Flora Carpenter lived in Franklin Twp., Warren Co., NJ and included stepdaughter Helen Graham, 23, son Gerald Carpenter, 7 and daughter Beverley Carpenter, 5 months. In 1920, Helen Graham lived with her widowed mother, Floria Graham in Phillipsburg, Warren Co., NJ.

Military records note John B. Bodine was born 13 Aug 1921 in Jersey City, NJ and served in the U.S. Army from 6 Jan 1941 to 15 Dec 1944.

John B. and Helen Bodine were buried in Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery, Lemay, St. Louis County, Missouri. John Bodine served as a Army 1st Sergeant during World War II.

Helen F. Bodine of Wildwood, Mo., died Aug. 26, 2008. She was 92. Mrs. Bodine was preceded in death by her husband, John B. Bodine. She is survived by her daughter, June D. (Edward) Silver; grandchildren, Patricia S. (Wallace) Scott and Edward M. (Oneda) Silver; and three great-grandchildren. Interment was at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery. Arrangements were made by St. Louis Cremation.

Note: June Silver was born 21 June 1934 when John Bodine was 12 and so must have been a child of her mother from an earlier relationship.
