Obituary, The Express-Times (Easton, PA) of Friday, 29 Sept 2023.
Richard A. Bodine, 78, of Bangor, peacefully passed away at home on September 20, 2023. Richard was born on July 2, 1945, in Broadway, New Jersey to the late Roy Arnold Bodine (Diner) and Helen F. Joyce Bodine. Richard attended both the Methodist Church and the primary School in Broadway as well as Phillipsburg Catholic, then graduating in 1963 from Warren Hills High School, where he played football. Richard had a lifelong love of sports and being outdoors and found enjoyment in hunting, fishing, football, baseball and in his later years gardening and farming. During the 1970s, Richard moved across the country several times, relocating from New Jersey, to Washington, to Florida, then back to Washington, ultimately deciding to return to the part of the country that he considered home. He bought a home and settled down in Bangor, Pennsylvania to be closer to family and old friends. Richard was a roofer by trade, but in his heart and soul, he was a gardener and a farmer. He took great joy and pleasure in cooking and preparing meals for others and sharing in the bounty of his garden and farm animals. Richard also had soft spot for animals, all things sweet (especially chocolate) and Camel non-filters. He was a big man with a big heart who lived his life his way. Richard is survived by his loving and devoted wife June of Bangor, brother Ray (Gayle) Bodine of Texas, Children: Kelly (Craig) Moreland of South Carolina, Richard A. Bodine Jr. of Virginia, John (Colleen) Bodine of New Jersey, Stepchildren: Kim Osborn of Pennsylvania, Terry Porter of Washington State, Todd (Cathy) Porter of Washington State, Sheri (Velton) Hix of Georgia, 24 Grandchildren and 37 Great Grandchildren. Richard was preceded in death by his sister, Royanna Roy, and Stepson, Earl Porter. The family would like to express our gratitude and appreciation to St. Luke's Compassionate Care Hospice, especially to Barbara Strauss and Cettina Amenta as well as to Kathy Spiak who helped render care. A private family burial will be held. Services are under the care of the Fiore Funeral Home 230 Market Street, Bangor. Online condolences may be offered at www.fiorefuneralhome.com
