R. Arnold "Diner" Bodine, 89, of Valley View Drive, Bangor, formerly of Broadway, N.J., died Friday, March 2, in his home. He was a machinist for Celanese of Belvidere, retiring in 1976 after more than 30 years. Born Sept. 27, 1911, in Broadway, he was a son of the late J. Roy and Florence Ritchey Bodine. He was of the Methodist faith. He was a pitcher for the Broadway Bears and the New Village Cubs semi-pro baseball teams in New Jersey in the 1920s and 1930s. He and his wife, the former Helen Joyce, observed their 60th wedding anniversary in August. In addition to his wife, he is survived by a daughter, Royanna Roy of Bangor; two sons, Richard of Bangor and Raymond of Houston, Texas; six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday in the Fiore Funeral Home, Third and Market streets, Bangor. Call 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday in the funeral home. Burial will be in Stewartsville Presbyterian Cemetery.

Helen F. Bodine, 87, of Bangor, Pa., died Monday, Dec. 6, 2004 at her home. Born: On November 25, 1917 in Easton, Pa., she was a daughter of the late Richard F. and Mary C. McGuire Joyce. Personal: Her husband of 60 years, R. Arnold, died in March of 2001. Before she retired, she was a waitress in various restaurants in the New Jersey area for many years. Prior to that, she was an apartment manager and had worked in several stores in Bellevue, Washington. She had a strong character with a good work ethic and was a loving mother, grandmother, sister, and aunt. Memberships: She was a member of St. Elizabeth of Hungary Catholic Church in Pen Argyl. Survivors: She is survived by two sons, Richard of Bangor, Raymond of Sugarland, TX; a daughter, Royanna Roy of Bangor; a brother, Charles R. Joyce of Bangor; two sisters, Lenora Joyce of Bangor, Lauretta Joyce of Bellevue, Washington; six grandchildren; six great grandchildren; and one great great grandchild. Three brothers, Raymond, Richard, and Joseph P. Joyce, all died earlier. Services: A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday in the church, Applegate and Babbitt Aves., Pen Argyl. Calling hours will be Sunday from 7 to 8:30 p.m. and on Monday from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. in the Fiore Funeral Home, Third and Market Sts., Bangor. Burial will be in the Stewartsville Cemetery, Stewartsville, NJ.
