William Ellhoff served as a Seaman in the US Navy from 1918 to 1921. Following his death, his widow, Mrs. Beatrice M. Ellhoff, submitted an Application for Headstone or Marker wherein she wrote her husband was born 12 Nov 1895, died 3 Dec 1953, and was buried in Woodbine Cemetery, Oceanport, New Jersey.
