The wedding of Spencer R. Bodine, of Long Branch and Miss Edith Pruden, daughter of Jabez Pruden of Matawan, at the Matawan Baptist Church, was reported in the Red Bank Register of 28 Feb 1917. On 5 June 1917, Spencer Russell Bodine registered for the World War I draft in Long Branch, Monmouth County. In 1930, Russell Bodine lived in West Long Branch Township, Monmouth County where he worked as an ice salesman.

WEST LONG BRANCH--S. Russell Bodine, 70, of 12 Wall St., died yesterday at home. He had been retired about a year after having operated a retail ice business in Long Branch many years. He was a member of Oceanic Engine Co., of Long Branch, secretary of the Long Branch Firemen's Relief Association, and a member of Long Branch Lodge, F. & A.M. Mr. Bodine is survived by his wife, Mrs. Edith Bodine; two daughters, Mrs. Kenneth Luther of Neptune and Mrs. Warren Beebe of West Long Branch; two sons, Russell S. Bodine of Long Branch and Jay Bodine of Neptune; eight grandchildren and a brother, Thurston of West Long Branch. Services will be conducted Wednesday at 2 p.m. in the Woolley Funeral Home, Long Branch. Burial will be in Woodbine Cemetery, Oceanport.

West Long Branch---Mrs. Edith M. Bodine, 75, of 21 Dennis Pl., died yesterday at Monmouth Medical Center, Long Branch. Mrs. Bodine had resided here most of her life. She was a member of Old First United Methodist Church, here. She was the widow of S. Russell Bodine. Surviving are two sons, Russell S., Long Branch, and Jay, Neptune; two daughters, Mrs. Kenneth Luther and Mrs. Warren Beebe, both here; a brother, Russell Pruden, Interlaken; a sister, Mrs. Mildred Dean, Fair Haven, and nine grandchildren. The Wooley Funeral Home, Long Branch, is in charge of arrangements.
