CASPER---Services for L.C. "Luke" Thaxton, 68, who died June 8 at Memorial Hospital of Natrona County after a long illness, will be Friday at 11 a.m. at the Bustard Funeral Home. He was born Dec. 8, 1917 in Henrietta, Texas. When he was a child, the family moved to Empire, Okla. where he was reared and educated. On July 23, 1940 he married Maxine Bodine in St. Louis, Mo. Mr. Thaxton moved to Casper in 1947 and was associated in the oil industry since that time. He was also a former owner of Wireline, Inc., and most recently had been operating the Luke Thaxton Enterprises. He was a member of the Casper Elks Lodge, Petroleum Club and Paradise Valley Country Club. Besides his widow, he is survived by a daughter, Mickie Hopkins of Oklahoma City, Okla.; three sisters, Lila Jean Gorbett of Oklahoma City, Alma Lewis Colley of Farmington, N.M. and Helen Stone of Silverstone, Mont.; two brothers, H.S. Thaxton of Casper and James Thaxton of Duncan, Okla.; three grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. Burial will be in Highland Cemetery.

CASPER---Services for Maxine B. Thaxton, 69, who died Aug. 12, 1986 at her home in Casper after a long illness, will be Thursday at 1 p.m. at the Bustard Funeral Home. Al Allen of Paradise Valley Christian Church will officiate. Burial will be in Highland Cemetery. Born June 28, 1917 in Oklahoma City, Okla., she was the daughter of Jim and Irene Bodine. She was reared and educated in Oklahoma City. On July 23, 1940, she married Luke Thaxton in St. Louis, Mo. Following their marriage, they lived in several Oklahoma areas until 1947 when they moved to Casper where she lived since that time except for a brief period in the early 1950's. She was a member of the Paradise Valley Country Club, Paradise Valley Ladies Association, Casper Petroleum Club and Ladies Association, Petroleum Club and Skyline Bowling Leagues and the Hospital Auxiliary. Mrs. Thaxton had also served as a volunteer worker for the MS Society. Survivors include one daughter, Mickie Hopkins and one brother, Jim Bodine, both of Oklahoma City; three granddaughters, seven great-grandchildren, two nieces and one nephew. She was preceded in death by her husband on June 8, 1986.
