Sophie "Sis" Bodine of St. James, Missouri passed away April 25, 2012 in Blue Springs, Missouri at the age of 93. Sophie was born in Rosati, Missouri to the late Ricardo and Maria (Guidicini) Cardetti on February 25, 1919. Sophie was united in marriage to Loren (Bo) Bodine on November 17, 1945 and to this union three daughters were born; they were married for 60 years when he passed away in 2006. Sophie was a very active member of the St. Anthony's Catholic Church; she enjoyed people and was very fun loving; Sophie was an advocate for those less fortunate, she also worked in the Head Start Program for the St. James School District; She was famous in the community and with her family for her peanut butter fudge, it was appropriately named Aunt Sissy's peanut butter fudge, the nieces and nephews knew they were in for a special treat when Aunt Sissy was in the kitchen; she was also know for her wonderful pasta dishes that she had inherited from her family who had immigrated from Italy in the 1920s. Sissie was a loving and devoted mother, grandmother, aunt and friend and will be greatly missed by all that knew and loved her. Sophie Bodine is survived by her daughters, Mary Catherine Linse and husband Dale, of Greybull, WY; Linda Turner and husband Ron, of Rolla, MO; Susan Brawner and husband Jewell, of Blue Springs, MO; grandchildren, Terra Graham (Jody), Chad Linse, Clay Turner (Carrie), Nathan Turner (Bambi), Lindsay McCormack (Matt), Courtney McDole (Matt), Tyler Brawner, and Dominique Brawner; great-grandchildren, Katlin and Hanna Turner, and Austin McCormack. A host of nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. In addition to her parents and husband Sophie was preceded in death by her brothers, Joseph (Peno), Richard (Bus) and Leo Cardetti; sister Anna Donati. Funeral service for Sophie Bodine will be held Tuesday, May 1, 2012 at St. Anthony's Catholic Church in Rosati, Missouri at 10:00 AM with Father Charles Pardee officiating. Interment will be in the St. Anthony Catholic Cemetery. A visitation for family and friends will be held Monday April 30, 2012 from 6-8 PM in the St. James Chapel of the James & Gahr Mortuary with a prayer service at 6:00 PM. In lieu of flowers memorials are suggested to the Tri-County Humane Society or to the St. Anthony Cemetery , cards are available at all James & Gahr locations.
