On 5 June 1918, Charles L. Bodine registered for the World War I draft in Trenton, Mercer County. He reported he was born 6 Aug 1897 in Passaic, New Jersey and that his next of kin was his father, Howard W. Bodine, who was born in Stockton, New Jersey. The Trenton Evening Times of 10 Sept 1918 reported the wedding of Miss Mildred Nippins, daughter of Gilbert Nippins, to Charles L. Bodine at the home of the bride's parents in Trenton. In 1930, Charles and Mildred Bodine lived with their two children in Trenton, Mercer County where Charles worked as an assistant post office cashier.

CHESTERFIELD---Charles L. Bodine, 71, of Georgetown Road, a retired Army lieutenant colonel, died Thursday in Walter Reed Hospital, Washington. Born in Passaic, he was superintendent of the center station at the Trenton Post Office when he entered the Army in 1942. He was a member of Sojourner Lodge, F & AM. Surviving are his wife, Mildred Nippins Bodine, and a daughter, Virginia at home. Private services will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. at the Tilghamn Funeral Home, 52 Main Street, New Egypt, with interment in North Crosswicks Cemetery. There will be no calling hours.

CHESTERFIELD--Mrs. Mildred Nippins Bodine of Georgetown Road, here, died Saturday at her home. Born in Trenton, she had resided in this area all her life. She was the wife of the late Charles Bodine and is survived by one daughter, Miss Virginia Bodine of Chesterfield. Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Monday from the Tilghman Funeral Home, 52 Main Street, New Egypt. The Rev. George W. Zinz Jr. will officiate. Interment will be in North Crosswicks Cemetery. There will be no calling hours. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.
