Dorothy Marie Sjoberg, age 86, of Tower, died Easter Sunday, April 12, 2009, in St. Michael's Health and Rehabilitation Center in Virginia with her daughters at her side. She was born Jan. 15, 1923, in Breitung Township, the daughter of Bernard and Lempi (Kultala) Bodine. She was united in marriage to Alden Sjoberg on Aug. 4, 1943, and was a lifelong resident of Tower prior to moving to St. Michaels' eight years ago. Dorothy liked knitting, crocheting and baking. In her earlier years she enjoyed the outdoors, blueberry picking, and fishing. At St. Michael's, she enjoyed playing bingo, the knitting group and Sunday afternoon church services. She loved music, especially Lawrence Welk, and "Dancing with the Stars.'' Dorothy was a member of the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Tower. She is survived by her daughters, Susan (Donald) Ronkainen of Tower and Ethelyn "Ethie" (Bruce) Kniivila of Virginia; brother, Robert (Paulette) Bodine of Virginia; and numerous nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Alden, in April of 1989; brothers and sisters, Alger Bodine, Muriel Rom, Luella Hiltunen and Carol Mae Mattila; and brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law.

Children: Susan Marie (1944), Ethelyn Louise (1952).
