On 5 June 1917, Clem Bodine registered for the World War I draft in Michigan City, Indiana. He was married and employed as a barber. In 1930, Clem Bodine lived with his family in Niles, Berrien County, Michigan where he owned and operated a barber shop. Mabel (Blessing) Bodine was the daughter of William and Mary Blessing.

Clem Bodine Dies at Niles Hospital
Clem Bodine, 40, Niles barber, died at the Pawating hospital late Wednesday afternoon after an illness of several days. Mr. Bodine was taken to the hospital Friday and underwent a serious operation Saturday morning. His condition following the operation remained critical and death occurred Wednesday. He is survived by the widow, Mrs. Mabel Bodine, 1113 Regent street, and by three children, Wallace 15, Dorothy 8, and Kenneth 6. Funeral services have been arranged for 10:30 o'clock Saturday morning at the Rutherford Funeral Home. The Rev. R.E. Meader, pastor of the First Methodist church, will officiate and burial will be in the Silverbrook cemetery. Mr. Bodine was born in North Liberty, Ind., Dec. 31, 1892, and was married to Miss Mabel Blessing, Michigan City, in Chicago, July 12, 1915. The family has lived in Niles for 14 years during which time Mr. Bodine had been employed at his barber trade. For many years he ran a shop at 214 Front street, and was later associated with the Henderson shop in Main street. For the past few months he had been at his home. His father and mother, Mr. and Mrs. William Bodine, Walkerton, Ind., and a brother, Grant Bodine, Kalamazoo, also survive. He was for many years a member of the South Bend lodge of Eagles. The body may be viewed at the Rutherford Funeral home.
