Robert Frederick Bodine, age 81, of Yorkville, Illinois passed away on Monday, March 27, 2006 at Rush-Copley Medical Center in Aurora, Illinois. He was born on April 18, 1924 in Chicago, Illinois the son of George C, and Kathryn (Young) Bodine. Mr. Bodine was united in marriage on June 3, 1949 in Northfield, Minnesota to the former Beatrice Jane Thomspon and they spent the next 56 happy years of their lives together. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother, uncle and friend. Robert spent his childhood in Evanston, Illinois and graduated from Evanston High School in 1942. He enlisted in the United States Army Air Force in 1942, while attending Carleton College in Northfield, Minnesota. Mr. Bodine was a pilot and spent time flying the "Hump" from India to China. Robert was awarded the Air Medal and the Asiatic Theatre Medal with two Battle Stars. After his military service, Mr. Bodine returned to Carleton College, where he received his degree in 1950. Robert was in the insurance business all of his working career. He retired in 1988 from Allstate Insurancer Company where he was employed for twenty years. Robert and Bea lived in Providence, Rhode Island, Cleveland, Ohio, South Hadley, Massachusetts, and both Sycamore and Oswego, Illinois. They made their home in Oswego for over 35 years. Upon his retirement, Robert and Bea spent the last 13 years traveling throughout the United States in their recreational vehicle, seeing new places and meeting new people. In 2001 they had to give up traveling and spent the rest of their lives in Yorkville, Illinois. He is survived by his wife, Bea Bodine of Yorkville, Illinois; his three daughters, Gayle Bodine of Denver, Colorado, Jane (Dan Morgan) Bodine of Oswego, Illinois, and Susan (Mark) Johnson of Sugar Grove, Illinois; his grandchildren, Joshua and Heather Bodine-Lederman of Oswego, Illinois and Patrick Michael Bodine-Ellison of Denver, Colorado; his step-grandchildren, Alyson Johnson and Ginger (Trevis) Newport; his step-great grandchildren, Joshua and Joscelyn Newport; his brother, George C. Bodine of Chattanooga, Tennessee; his niece, Lynn Bodine and his nephew, Michael Bodine, both of Chattanooga, Tennessee. He was preceded in death by his parents, George C. Bodine and Kathryn Young Bodine. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Thursday, March 30, 2006 at the Oswego Presbyterian Church in Oswego, Illinois with Rev. Leon Aalberts and Rev. Terry Hennessy, officiating. Private interment with full military honors will take place in the Pearce Cemetery, Oswego, Illinois. Friends may visit from 4 to 7 P.M. on Wednesday, March 29, 2006 at the Larson-Nelson Funeral Home, 410 E. Countryside Pkwy in Yorkville, Illinois.
