Obituary, Dansville Breeze (Dansville, N.Y.) of 8 Aug 1967.
A funeral service will be conducted tomorrow in the Chamberlin Funeral Home for Mrs. Gladys Bodine Bundschuh, 40, of Hartman Rd., West Sparta who succumbed Saturday to injuries suffered in a car crash at the West Ave. and Washington St. intersection Thursday morning. Mrs. Bundschuh was the driver of a car which, in the operator's attempt to avoid crashing with one which pulled from a side street, shot over the curb and smashed into the house at 21 West Ave. Mrs. Bundschuh became Livingston County's 13th accident fatality of the year. According to Officer Robert Forrester who investigated, Mrs. Bundschuh was heading west on West Ave. about 7:15 a.m. As she approached the Washington St. corner, a vehicle driven by Mrs. Dorothy Gardner, 38, of Ossian pulled into the path of the Bundschuh auto which veered and smashed into the house. The Gardner car continued on and collided with a station wagon operated by Laban Sensabaugh, 43, of 146 Franklin St. It is believed that the accelerator on the Bundschuh vehicle stuck, sending the car into the house at a high rate of speed. Mrs. Gardner and her son, Keith, 13, suffered minor injuries and were taken to Dansville Memorial Hospital for treatment. Mrs. Gardner's son, Warren, escaped injury as did Sensabaugh. Forrester issued Mrs. Garnder a summons for failing to stop at a stop sign. She will answer the charge in Police Court on Thursday. According to Dr. C.T. Andolina of Mt. Morris, Livingston County coroner, Mrs. Bundschuh succumbed as a result of multiple internal injuries. Mrs. Bundschuh was born in the Town of Perrington but had resided in West Sparta for the past 15 years. She was employed in the housekeeping department at Craig Colony School and Hospital in Sonyea. Mrs. Bundschuh was a member of the West Sparta Methodist Church. Surviving are her husband, Warren; two daughters, Kathleen and Carin, and a son, Frederick, all at home; five brothers, Clarence Bodine of Conesus, Roy Bodine of Summerville, Mass., Howard Bodine of Victor, Stanley Bodine of Ossian and Albert Bodine of Ossian and Albert Bodine of Mendon; three sisters, Mrs. Edith Schlesing and Mrs. Dorothy McKenzie, both of Marion, and Miss Helen Bodine of Mt. Morris. The funeral service will be conducted tomorrow at 2 p.m. Burial will be in Oaklawn Cemetery, West Sparta.
