OSGOODBY, Lawrence J. - Funeral services for Lawrence J. Osgoodby, 69, of 685 Steelhead Lane, Burlington were conducted on Thursday, June 29, at 1:00 p.m., in Greenacres Memorial Park with Mr. Stephen Ludeman officiating. Born in Avon in Skagit County, Mr. Osgoodby died suddenly on Monday, June 26 in Bend, Oregon. A Whatcom County resident for most of his life, Mr. Osgoodby was a retired farmer and had also been employed by the Whatcom County Road department for fifteen years. A Burlington resident for the past five years, Mr. Osgoodby was a member of Teamsters Local No. 231 and was married to Dorothy Bodine in Bellingham on December 21, 1937. Besides his wife Dorothy, he is survived by a son, Brian of Bellingham; five daughters, Barbara Forthun of Bellingham, Cathy VanGinkle of Bend, Oregon, Laurie Mears of Edmonds, Cindy Osgoodby of Valdez, Alaska and Debbie Osgoodby of Bellingham and six grandchildren. Contributions and memorial gifts may be made to the Heart Fund. Services were under the direction of the Gillies Funeral Home.

Dorothy Ann Osgoodby-Kesselring, age 96, passed away on November 18, 2013 in Bellingham, Washington. Daughter of Jessie and John Bodine, Dorothy was born in Lynden, Washington on March 4, 1917. One of 8 siblings, Dorothy spent many days helping out with the family Bodine Bakery business. Dorothy married Lawrence Osgoodby in 1937 and together they ran a successful dairy farm in Everson, Washington. On the weekends Dorothy loved going to grange hall dances or playing a game of pinochle with friends. Dorothy was passionate about reading, gardening and traveling. Her trips included many parts of the U.S, Australia, Spain, France, England and her last trip at the age of 90 was a cruise around the southern tip of South America. After Lawrence passed away in 1978, Dorothy married Clarence Kesselring in 1981. They built a house together in the LaConner area and enjoyed winters in Arizona. Some of Dorothy's happiest moment were spending time with family and attending the many Bodine family reunions. She was always lively and full of conversation and enjoyed talking about politics, current events or the last book she just read. Dorothy's constant and loyal companion for the past several years was her dog Babe. Dorothy is preceded in death by her first husband Lawrence Osgoodby, late husband Clarence Kesselring and her daughter, Laurie Mears-Bromberger. Dorothy is survived by her children Barbara Forthun (Richard), Catherine Duren (Henry), Lucinda Lopez (Tim), Brian Osgoodby (Marissa), Debbie Johnson (William), 16 grandchildren, 25 great- grandchildren and 4 great-great grandchildren. The family would like to thank everyone from Orchard Park and Whatcom Hospice House for their kind and loving support. At Dorothy's request there will not be a funeral service. A celebration of her life will be announced at a later date. Donations can be made in Dorothy's honor to Whatcom Hopice Foundation or Seattle Children's Hospital.
