Paul E. Callahan 1925 - 2010 SUN CITY WEST, AZ - Paul E. Callahan of Sun City West, Arizona, passed away on Jan 1, 2010 at the Hospice of Arizona in Sun City West. He was born in Cambridge, MA on Jan 16, 1925. Paul was the son of Stephen T. and Louise C. Callahan of South Hadley, MA. He was a 1941 graduate of Holyoke High School and joined the US Coast Guard during WWII where he served in the South Pacific. Paul graduated from Bowdoin College in 1949 and was retired from a career in sales with Dupont's Remington Division. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Barbara (Bodine) Callahan. Two sons, Paul Jr.of California and David of Alaska, five grandchildren, a brother, Russell S. of South Boston, and a sister, Rosemary L. Hendricks of South Hadley, and many nieces and nephews also survive him. Another sister, Betty Gillespie of Granby pre-deceased him. A celebration of Paul's life will be held at a later date. Donations may be sent to the American Cancer Society.

The wedding of Paul Callahan, of South Hadley, Massachusetts, a senior at Bowdoin College, Brunswick, Maine, and Barbara Bodine, a graduate of Mount Holyoke College, at the home of Barbara's parents, in Kane, was reported in the Wellsboro Gazette of 30 Sept 1948. The Berkshire (Mass.) Evening Eagle of 26 March 1952 reported that Paul Callahan had served four years in the U.S. Coast Guard, two years in the Pacific theatre and was a 1949 graduate of Bowdoin College.

SUN CITY WEST - Friends of Barbara respectfully acknowledge her passing during the early morning of Oct. 23, 2010. Barbara was born Aug. 28, 1926, and left our world to join Paul Edward Callahan, her loving Husband of 61 years who passed away after a brief illness Jan. 1, 2010. We are grateful to those who made her last days so meaningful. Her happiness lives in the hearts of many. Paul and Barbara are interred together in The Garden of Eternal Memory Cemetery at Camino del Sol Center in Sun City West.
