Francis Bodine served in the U.S. Army from 1954-1956. He received a B.S. degree in 1960 from La Salle University in Marketing. From 1977-1978, he served on the Moorestown Township Council and served as township mayor from 1981-1987. He was a Commissioner of the Delaware River Port Authority from 1983-1990 where he was the chairman of the executive committee and vice chairman, operation and maintenance. He served on the Burlington County Board of Chosen Freeholders from 1985-1994 and as its Director in 1988 and 1993. He has served in the New Jersey General Assembly since 1994, where he represents the 8th legislative district. He has served in the Assembly as Deputy Leader from 2006-2007, served as the Assistant Republican Whip from 2002-2006 and was the Assistant Majority Whip during 2000-2001. The marriage of Miss Elva Anna Riddell, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Walter A. Riddell of Mount Laurel to Mr. Francis L. Bodine, son of Mr. and Mrs. David J. Bodine of Moorestown took place Saturday afternoon last, in Our Lady of Good Counsel Church, Moorestown, Rev. Gerald Callahan officiating.

Francis L. Bodine, On Jan. 11, 2023 age 87 of Surf City. NJ formerly Moorestown. Fran was a graduate of Moorestown High School Class of "53" went to receive his degree in Marketing from La Salle University He served in the US Army from 1954-1956. He served in politics for most of his career serving on Moorestown Town Council and serving as Mayor of Moorestown. He served as a Burlington County Freeholder, as a commissioner on the Delaware River Port Authority and Member of New Jersey State Assembly Fran was a member of Pine Valley Golf Club as well as numerous civic and charitable organizations. Fran was a loving husband, devoted father and grandfather, and the epitome of a dedicated public servant. He enriched the lives of all who knew him with his love, generosity, and guidance. He was a dedicated member of Our Lady of Good Counsel in Moorestown, where he served as an altar boy as a young man. Fran was a lifelong golfer who was proud to be a member of Pine Valley Golf Club. In his later years, Fran cherished time with his children and grandchildren. He also loved time spent in and around Long Beach Island with Karen and his "LBI Family". Husband of the late Elva Anna Riddell. Father of Stewart (Jennifer) Bodine, Ludlow VT and Kristin (Peter) Demas, Thornton, NH. Also survived by his sister Nancy MacDonald, grandchildren Garrett Demas and Kati Demas, and Hannah Toromino. as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins, and godchildren. He was predeceased by his Parents, Brothers, David "Buddy' Bodine and Eddie Bodine, Sisters, Mary Jacoby. Mass of Christian burial 10:30 am Tues. Jan. 17th 2023 at Our Lady of Good Counsel Church, 42 W. Main St. Moorestown, NJ. Visitation Monday Jan. 16th from 2 - 4 pm at the Lewis Funeral Home, 78 E. Main St. Moorestown, NJ. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Surf City Fire and EMS, c/o Borough of Surf City, 813 Long Beach Blvd. Surf City, NJ 08008.
