On 2 May 1898, Elmer E. Bodine, 26, born in Brooklyn, enlisted at Hempstead as a Private in the 14th Infantry, National Guard and was mustered out 27 Oct 1898 with his company in Brooklyn.

In June 1900, Elmer Bodine, 27 and single, was living with his father in Brooklyn, Kings County, New York. In 1910, age 38 and single, he was still living with his father in Brooklyn, but was now working as a clerk in a furniture retail store.

Elmer E. Bodine, for many years connected with W. H. Reid, auctioneers, died yesterday at his home, 615 Sixty-first street. He was a son of the late Margaret and Abija Bodine, and is survived by his widow, Josie McGrath Bodine. He was a veteran ofthe Spanish-American War and a member of Fourteenth Regiment Camp, U.S.W.V., and Horicon Tribe, 48, I.O.R.M. The funeral services will be held at 2 P.M. Friday, and interment will be in Greenwood Cemetery under direction of J.E. Clark, 4409 Third avenue.
