Notes for: Benjamin Franklin ("Frank") Bodine

From Ronny Bodine:

Frank Bodine lived most of his life in Doylestown engaged in farming. The will of B. Frank Bodine, of Doylestown, Bucks County, was written 14 Aug 1914 and proved 2 Oct 1914. Therein he named only his wife, Anna L. Bodine (Bucks Co. Wills, 37: 398). Amy (McDowell) Bodine was the daughter of George and Amanda (Mathews) McDowell. She was buried in Doylestown Cemetery. Annie (Garges) Bodine was the daughter of Henry and Mary Elizabeth (Roberts) Garges. She was living 1930 in Doylestown with several boarders.

Newspaper Obituary, Bristol Daily Courier (Bristol, Pa.) of Wednesday, 16 Sept 1914.
Within a few yards of the Court House to which he was going to serve as a juror, B. Frank Bodine, a well-known Doylestown resident and brother of the late General Robert L. Bodine, fell dead on Court street, yesterday morning about 9 o'clock. Mr. Bodine had been in ill health for a year suffering from an affection of the heart and recently his condition had been more serious. He had just turned the corner at Pine and Court streets when he was stricken and grasped the iron fence in front of the residence of John L. DuBois. He was caught before he fell by two men standing near and had gone the few feet to the residence of Dr. James E. Groff next door when he expired at the foot of the steps leading to the office. Dr. Groff was at his side a minute after the attack but he was beyond help. Mr. Bodine had been a resident of Doylestown for a few years. As a young man he lived at Bushington where his father kept hotel. Later he began farming near Pineville, but afterward farmed the farm of George McDowell not far from Doylestown. He was married twice. His first wife was a daughter of George McDowell, of Doylestown township. His second wife, who survives him, was Miss Anna L. Garges, of Doylestown township. He is also survived by a sister, Mrs. Caroline VanPelt, Doylestown. The deceased was 78 years of age.
