Notes for: Jacob Bodine

From Ronny Bodine:

The 1810 census reflects Jacob Bodine as a resident of Warwick Township with a household that included beisdes his wife, one male aged under 10 and 2 females aged under 10. In 1820, Jacob was now living in Buckingham Township and it is evident that his wife was no longer part of the family. Aside from himself his household now consisted only of 2 females aged under 10 and one aged 16 to 26. The three females in 1820 could be his daughters and/or servants or other relatives. In 1830, he was again living in Warwick Township, but now again with a female of his age, 40 to 49. In 1840, he was Jacob 'Bordine' living in Doylestown Township.

Following the death of his wife Ann, he appears to have remarried as the 1830 census includes a woman born between 1781 and 1790. Sarah Bodine, born about 1787, fits into this age span. In 1850, she was living in the household of Amos and Esther (Bodine) Dudbridge in Warwick Township. At the time of her marriage in 1848, Esther was noted as a resident of Doylestown Township and only Jacob Bodine was known to live there in 1840. It seems that in 1850, Jacob Bodine, age 72, was living with his son John in Northampton Township, while Sarah, age 63, was living with her daughter, Esther Dudbridge, in Warwick Township.

On 2 Dec 1850, Jacob Bodine, age 72, of Bucks County, applied for a bounty land warrant, citing his past military services during the War of 1812 as a Private in Captain Edward Yerkes' Company, Colonel Krickbaum's Regiment of Militia. Two warrants were issued him under numbers 20995-40-50 and 37413-120-55. Rachel Rice, of Buckingham Township, wrote her will on 28 Aug 1816 (proved 12 Feb 1818, Bucks Co. Wills. 9: 241) and therein named her daughter Ann Bodine.
