The wedding of Johnnie Monroe and Aleena Bodine at the home of Mrs. George Ingle in Abilene was announced in the "Abilene Reporter-News" of 31 Dec 1943. John and Anna Monroe lived in Amarillo, Texas 1950-1961, then moved to Raton, New Mexico.

Anna Aleene Bodine Monroe age 86 of Raton, passed away unexpectedly Sunday August 31, 2008 in Raton, NM., She was born March 26, 1922 in Colorado City, TX. the daughter of Lynn L. and Stella Hooker, Bodine. She is preceded in death by her parents, husband John L. Monroe, son (Jim) James H. Monroe and brothers Lenn, Jr., Homer and Truman Bodine. Aleene and her husband John had operated the bus station in Raton for many years, and they owned and operated the Man's store she was very active with the Raton Museum, Raton Coral Society, and Red Hat Society, She served as president of the Raton Chamber of Commerce she loved line dancing. She will be missed by the many friend and family who loved her. She is survived by one brother, Edwin Bodine and wife Jeanine, of Hutto, TX.,sister-in-law Florence Bodine, Margaret Bodine, Willodean Monroe and Valeria Monroe. Aleene was know as "Aunt Sister" to 16 nieces and nephews and numerous great and great great nieces and nephews. Aleene's famile will be receiving friends Friday September 5, 2008 from 5:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. at the Yaksich-Long Funeral Home in Raton. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Schueller Theater and the Raton Museum
