Wanda M. Bodine, age 84, of Mt. Vernon, passed away at 4:11 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 27, 2009, at St. Mary's Good Samaritan Hospital in Mt. Vernon. She was born in Jefferson County on Friday, Aug. 29, 1924, a daughter of Andrew and Minnie (Williams) Sinks. She married Harry Bodine on Aug. 30, 1941, in Cape Girardeau, Mo. Funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Friday in the chapel at Mt. Vernon Memorial Gardens in Woodlawn with the Rev. Jack Lucas officiating. Interment will follow at Mt. Vernon Memorial Gardens in Woodlawn.In honor of her wishes, there will be no public visitation. Wanda is survived by her husband, Harry Bodine of Mt. Vernon; son, Jim Bodine and wife Marty of Mt. Vernon; two daughters, Carolyn Gajewski and husband Richard of Richview and Bonnie Miller and husband Gene of Mt. Vernon; nine grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.Her parents and one grandson, Jody W. Bodine, preceded her in death.Wanda loved spending time with her family, loved her home, her quilts and her collectible sewing notions. Harry L. Bodine, 89, of Mt. Vernon, passed away at 6:27 p.m. Friday, April 23, 2010, at St. Louis University Hospital in St. Louis, Mo. He was born Sept. 15, 1920, in Jefferson County, a son of Luther Bodine and Dolly Mathus. He married Wanda Sinks Aug. 30, 1941, in Cape Girardeau, Mo., and she preceded him in death Jan. 27, 2009. In addition to his wife, Mr. Bodine was also preceded in death by his parents; brother, Robert Bodine; grandson, Jody W. Bodine; nephew, Roy Bodine; and two sisters, Ruth Ann Brooks and Betty Ilbery. He was survived by a son, Jimmy Bodine and wife Mary of Mt. Vernon; two daughters, Carolyn Gajewski and husband Richard of Richview and Bonnie Miller and husband Gene of Mt. Vernon; two brothers, Jerry Bodine of Mt. Vernon and Harvey D. Bodine and wife Chris of Centralia; a sister, Dorothy Baker of Texico; nine grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Harry served his country in the United States Army during World War II. He worked for Kerr-McGee as a crane operator and enjoyed reading Western books and watching St. Louis Cardinals baseball. Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at Mt. Vernon Memorial Gardens Chapel in Woodlawn, with Chaplain Ernie Collins officiating. There will be no public visitation. Interment will follow at Mt. Vernon Memorial Gardens in Woodlawn, with military rites conducted by American Legion Post 141.
