MOUNT VERNON---Charles Mooney, 75, of 307 Harrison St. died at 12:12 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 27, 1987, in Jeffersonian Nursing Home, Mount Vernon. Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday in the East Side Baptist Church in Mount Vernon, with burial in the South Hickory Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be after 6 p.m. today and until 11:30 a.m. Tuesday at the Hughey Funeral Home in Mount Vernon, then from 12:30 p.m. Tuesday until the service time at the church. Mr. Mooney was a retired sheet metal worker at Vernois Inc. in Mount Vernon. He was a member of the East Side Baptist Church in Mount Vernon. He was born Dec. 10, 1921, in Sesser to Robert and Pearl Mooney. He married Hazel Bodine in 1939. She survives. Other survivors include one son, Frederick Mooney of Mount Vernon; one daughter, Charlyan Cooper of Galatia; four grandchildren; three sisters, Jean and Eleanor Hicks, both of Waltonville, and Evalo Darnell of Nason; one brother, Ralph Mooney of Opdyke. One brother and two sisters preceded him in death.

MOUNT VERNON---Hazel Molean Mooney, 65, died at 12:25 p.m. Thursday, May 12, 1988, in Good Samaritan Hospital. Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday in East Side Baptist Church, with burial in South Hickory Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be after 6 p.m. today and until 11:30 a.m. Saturday at Hughey Funeral Home, and from 1 to 2 p.m. Saturday at the church. Mrs, Mooney had owned Mooney's Poodle Grooming. She was a member of East Side Baptist Church. She was born July 23, 1922, in Jonesboro, Ark., to Steve and Mittie (Lumsden) Bodine. She married Charles Mooney in 1939. He died in 1987. Survivors include one son, Fredrick Mooney of Mount Vernon; one daughter, Charlyan Cooper of Galatia; two brothers, Emil Simpson of Benton, Ark., and Steve Bodine of Woodlawn; five sisters, Opal Wingfield of Mount Vernon, Dicey Jamerson of Carthage, Mo., Daisy Potts of Decatur, Edna Shaw of Nashville, Tenn., and Louise Wells of Hatfield, Ark.; and four grandchildren.
