Notes for: Claude Thomas Bodine, Sr.

The "Trenton Evening Times" of 23 May 1917 wrote that Claude T. Bodine, the only son of his parents, was engaged in the watch repair business with his father. On 21 May 1917, he enlisted in the Hospital Corps of the 2nd Regiment. In 1920, Claude Bodine, 23 and single, was living with his parents in Trenton and working as a watch maker. The wedding of Claude T. Bodine to Miss Elsie C. Brinkman at the Calvary Baptist Church in Trenton was reported in the "Trenton Evening Times" of 3 May 1927. In 1930, he and his family were living in Trenton where he now was proprietor of a jewelry store. Claude and Elsie Bodine were buried in Riverside Cemetery, Toms River, Ocean County.

SEASIDE HEIGHTS---Claude T. Bodine, a former Trenton watchmaker and jeweler, died yesterday at his home here after a short illness. He was born in Trenton and had operated the Bodine Jewelry Shop here for several years. Bodine had more recently been employed as a mechanic and engineer with Westinghouse for 20 years, and had retired n 1960. Surviving are his wife, Elsie, two sons, C. Thomas of Dover Township and Paul E. of Overland Park, Kan.; one sister, Mrs. Nella Woods of Trenton; and six grandchildren. Friends may visit at the Robert C. Neary Funeral Home in Manasquan tomorrow evening between 7 and 9. Interment will be in the Riverside Cemetery in Toms River.

SEASIDE HEIGHTS---Elsie Bodine, 81, of 214 Porter Ave., died yesterday at the Summit Nursing Home, Lakewood. She was born in Johnstown, N.Y., and lived most of her life in Trenton before moving here in 1959. Her husband, Claude Bodine, died in 1966. Surviving are two sons, Thomas, Island Heights, and Paul, Toms River, and six grandchildren. The Anderson & Campbell Funeral Home, Toms River, is in charge of arrangements.
