Notes for: Francis ("Frank") Butterworth Bodine

From Ronny Bodine:

The marriage of Francis B. Bodine and Miss Ella Blowe, both of Camden, was announced in the "New Jersey Mirror" of 8 Oct 1902. Francis Bodine, age 24 and single, was living 1900 with his parents in Camden and working as a railroad brakeman. In 1910, Francis and Ella Bodine were living in the home of Ella's parents, John and Martha Blowe. Francis was now working as a railroad conductor. He registered for the World War I draft on 12 Sept 1918 in Camden. Francis and Ella were still living 1920-1930 in Camden, 1920 next door to Francis's sister and brother-in-law Rebecca and Thomas Borton. Francis and Ella Bodine apparently had no children as none are evident in any of the censuses.

1940 Camden, Camden Co., NJ: Francis B. BODINE 64 NJ, Ella 65 NJ wife. [Note: Ella Blowe was noted as born April 1871 in the 1900 census, which is consistent with her age in 1910 at 39, 48 in 1920 and 58 in 1930.]

Francis Bodine was still serving as a freeholder from the 9th Ward when in October of 1936 he was one of a group of 20 Republican freeholders who defied party boss David Baird Jr. to bring Civil Service rules to Camden County hiring.
