The marriage of Charles Lathrop of Syracuse to Josephine Waring Bodine, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Hugh V. N. Bodine of Jamestown was reported in the Times Herald of Olean, New York of 28 June 1937. The exact date and location was not reported. However, the Elmira Star Gazette of Tuesday, 22 June 1937 reported the upcoming wedding on Wednesday in Jamestown of Prof. Henry Lathrop of Syracuse University and Miss Josephine Bodine.
1940 (3 April) Jamestown, Ward 5: BODINE, Hugh 54 NY Lawyer, Anna 54 NY wife; LATHROP, Josephine 26 NY dau married.
The Post-Journal (Jamestown, N.Y.) of 26 Dec 1945 reported the Christmas wedding of Josephine Bodine Lathrop to Ben Mahaffey of Jamestown, son of Mr. and Mrs. Samuel Mahaffey of Oneonta, N.Y. at the home of the bride's parents County Judge and Mrs. Hugh V. N. Bodine. Rev. Frank B. McDuffee of the First Congregational Church officiated.
Ben & Josephine Mahaffey appear in the 1950 Jamestown, NY City Directory. Ben is employed as a court reporter. The 1952, 1953 & 1955 directories list her as Mrs. Josephine Mahaffey and the 1956 directory lists her as the widow of Ben.
The Jamestown Post-Journal of 16 April 1956 reported: Mrs. Josephine Bodine Mahaffey, 150 Euclid Avenue, has been transferred to the Social Securities office in West Palm Beach, Fla. She was accompanied to Florida by her daughter, Patricia, her son, John Jermain Mahaffey to remain here until August with his grandparents, Judge and Mrs. Hugh V. N. Bodine, 222 Arlington Avenue.
