Norman Henry Bodine was born in Penn Yan, N.Y. on Sept. 14, 1940 to Henry and Elizabeth (Sutherlin) Bodine. Norman passed away in Portland on May 16, 2011 at age 70. He graduated from Penn Yan Academy on June 23, 1958. Norman served his country honorably as a member of the U.S. Navy in 1958. Norman was baptized on April 2, 1960 at the First Methodist Church in Penn Yan, N.Y. He attended Linn Benton Community College and Chemeketa Community College. He finished his college years attending Oregon State University in 1968. On July 4, 1968 he was united in marriage to E.J. Neilson in Tillamook. Norman began a career with the United States Postal service in Corvallis, where he was a letter carrier. He then went into management services in Corvallis and was promoted to Postmaster in Coquille. Norman was promoted to the manager of delivery and collection at the sectional center in Salem. His last career promotion was to postmaster in Tillamook. He retired from this position at age 53, after more than 30 years of service. He was a BPOE lifetime member, and an avid nature lover. Norman was preceded in death by his grandson, Beau Sanders; brother, Don Bodine; and his sister Sylvia Anderson. He leaves behind to honor his life, his loving family, wife, E.J. Bodine of Tillamook; son, Steven Bodine and wife, Tami, of Banks; daughter, Katrina Carlbom and husband, Ron, of Tillamook and Gresham; sister-in-law, Sally Bodine of Dallas; brother-in-law, Chet Anderson of Penn Yan, N.Y.; grandchildren, Alina Bodine, Ian Bodine, Alyssa Sanders and Jacob Sanders; and by numerous beloved nieces and great nieces and nephews. A celebration of his life will be from 1-4 p.m. June 12 at the Red Clover Cheese Factory, 8795 Trask River Road in Tillamook. Those who would like to make memorial contributions in Norman's name may do so to the Habitat for Humanity in Tillamook. Cremation arrangements are in care of Waud's Funeral Home in Tillamook.
