BODINE, MELDEN C., Services for Meldon C. Bodine, 80, Columbia Cross Roads, were held Jan. 26, at Vickery Funeral Home with Rev. William Barnes officiating. Burial was in Bradford County Memorial Park. Mr. Bodine died Jan 23, 1984 at Troy Community Hospital. He was born Nov. 21, 1903 in Big Flats, NY, son of Bert and Emma Robinson Bodine. He was a farmer in East Smithfield and then employed with Horseheads Industrial Center for 22 years. Surviving are his wife of 51 years, Lucile Darrow Bodine; son Duane of Columbia Cross Roads; daughters, Mrs. Kenneth (Shirley) Mills of Elmira, Mrs. William (Betty) Swingle of Pine Grove, PA and Ms. Marlene Covey of Sayre; sisters, Mrs. Harold (Gladys) Rice, Mildred Bodine and Mrs. Harold (Louise) Wheatly, all of Wilmington, DE and Mrs. Joseph (Vivian) Ryan of Elmira; 14 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; two nieces and one nephew. Lucile Darrow Bodine, 81, formerly of East Smithfield, PA, died Tuesday, January 18, 1994 at the Troy Community Hospital. She was born May 7, 1912, the daughter of Frank and Bertha Darrow. Mrs. Bodine was a member of the Smithfield United Methodist Church and also the East Smithfield Good Neighbor Club. She was retired from the East Smithfield school cafeteria. Mrs. Bodine is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Duane and Katherine Bodine of Bentley Creek; daughters and sons-in-law, Shirley and Kenneth Mills of Elmira, NY, Betty and William Swingle of Pine Grove, PA and Marlene and Richard Patton of Bentley Creek; 14 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband, Melden C. Bodine, in 1984. Funeral services were held at the Vickery Funeral Home in Troy on January 21 with the Rev. Nathan Blow officiating and burial to be in Bradford County Memorial Park. Memorials may be made to the Troy Community Hospital, 100 John Street, Troy, PA 16947.
