Notes for: Jennie A. Bodine

The Auburn Citizen of Tuesday June 16, 1914 has the obituary of "Mrs. Mary Selover Bodine, 74, widow of J. Martin Bodine." She died early that morning at her home in Owasco. She was born in Niles. One daughter, Mrs. Edward Chamberlain of Owasco and one son, Arthur C. of Port Byron, survived her. Funeral services were to be held on Thursday at her home by a Presbyterian minister with burial at Owasco Rural Cemetery.

Jennie Bodine, daughter of J. M. Bodine of Owasco and Edwin Chamberlain of Skaneateles were married at the home of the bride's father on 11 March by Pastor J. A. Rodger.

In April 1930, Edwin and Jennie Chamberlain lived in Owasco, Cayuga County engaged in farming. Following Jennie's death in 1931, Edwin Chamberlain married the widow of Jennie's brother Arthur Bodine.

Mrs. Jennie Bodine Chamberlain, 58, wife of former Supervisor Edwin Chamberlain of Owasco, died at her home in Owasco Hill yesterday afternoon. She had been ailing for about three months following a stroke. Mrs. Chamberlain was an active member of Owasco Reformed Church, the Owasco unit of Cayuga County Home Bureau, a former member of the Cayuga County Executive Committee of the Bureau and also belonged to the Doris Rebekah Lodge. She was a long time resident of Owasco. Funeral services will be held from her home at 2 o'clock Monday afternoon. Rev. Richard J. Blocker,
pastor of the Reformed Church, will be the officiating clergyman. Interment will be in Owasco Rural Cemetery.

Edwin Chamberlain, 91, former Owasco assessor and postmaster, husband of Mrs. Jessie Duryea Chamberlain of 19 N. Hunter Ave., died unexpectedly at his home this morning. Born in Niles, he resided in Owasco for many years, coming to Auburn 20 years ago. He was a retired farmer and was assessor for the Town of Owasco for 18 years. He also operated the general store and Post Office in Owasco with a partner for several years. During world War II he was employed by Alco Products. Mr. Chamberlain was a member of the Owasco Reformed Church and the Owasco IOOF. Surviving besides his widow are one step-daughter. Mrs. Harold Dobbin, Baldwinsville, and one niece. Services will be at 1 p.m. Thursday at the Langham Funeral Home, Rev. Richard J. Blocker, pastor of Sand Beach Church, officiating. Burial will be In Owasco Rural Cemetery. Calling hours will be from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. tomorrow at the funeral home.
