Notes for: Fred ("Freddie") Neil Bodine
Lisa Malone said he died of emphezema. He had lost one of his lungs in Vietnam. Fred was married five times after his first wife Beverly. One of those marriages produced a daughter, Freda, who lives in Phoenix. His last marriage lasted twenty-two years, to Helen Ray Craft. She died in 2002.
Fred and Beverly had a stillborn daughter, Barbara, in 1954 or 1955.

Mrs. Beverly Ann Sorgen Bodine, aged 60, resident of Albemarle NC, died Sunday June 14, 1992 in St. Michaels Hospital in Texarkana. Graveside services will be held at 1pm Thursday, June 18 in the Clear Creek Cemetery at Horatio under the direction of Wilkerson Funeral Home. She was born March 24, 1932 at Ft. Wayne IN; and was an employee of Dawson Consumer Products of Albemarle NC. Survivors are three sons, William Bodine and Benjamin Bodine, both of Pheonix AZ and Freddie Bodine of Horatio; two brothers, Dennis Sorgen of Chandler AZ, and Eddie Sorgen of Joseph City AZ; two sisters, Carol Myers of Glendale AZ and Barbara Sorgen of Joseph City AZ; nine grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews.

In October 1946 she reported her name as Viola Margarett Graham, in February 1964 as Viola Margarett Bodine and in April 1970 as Viola Margarett Hatfield. She died 15 April 2001. Her last residence was Albuquerque, New Mexico. [Note: In addition, The Arizona Republic of 14 Nov 1967 reported a marriage license was issued to Gerald B. Murtagh, 46 and Viola M. Bodine, 40, both of Phoenix. On 15 May 1968 it was reported a divorce was granted to Viola and Gerald Murtagh.]

Freddie Bodine served in the U.S. Navy from June 1966 to Dec 1968 and lost a lung in Vietnam. He was buried in the National Memorial Cemetery of Arizona, in Phoenix. Beverly (Sorgen) Bodine was the daughter of Harold Franklin Sorgen.
4th wife--1974--HELEN WALDROP.
Helen was 1st married in 1939 in Miller Co., Arkansas to Chester McDowell with whom she lived 1940 in Little River Co., Arkansas. Their son Kenneth was born in Feb 1940. By May 1954, Helen was married to Harry John Reycraft (1923-1969). The obituary of Kenneth Milton McDowell in the Arizona Republic (Phoenix, AZ) of 2 July 1967 names his stepfather and mother as Mr. and Mrs. Harry Reycraft.

Freddie Niel Bodine, 67, of Chandler, a heavy-equipment operator, died July 27, 1996. He was born in Alamogordo, N.M., and was a Navy veteran. He was a member of the American Legion.
