Notes for: Peter Bodine

I believe this Peter Bodine (poss under the name Piere Bodin) a "young man" was received as a member of the Church of Leiden on May 28, 1594. This would have been shortly before his marriage there on June 25, 1594. Both of these records come from the abstracts of the Walloon and Huguenot Churches in the Netherlands.

Another record says that a Pierre Bodin (le fils) was elected deacon in the church of Leiden in 1616. I would guess that it refers to this Peter Bodine. This may mean that his father was still alive at the time.

Subject: Peter Bodine & Maria Cosijns - 2e time - Please give a reaction

Hallo Dave Bodine,

I am very impressed what a found at your site under the part of:

The will and administrations of Peter Bodine and Maria Cosijns

First a little question, did you ever have contact with Jan Bedijn?

J.Bedijn Dzn. Noordwijk [jan.bedijn@wanadoo.nl]

After a general question of to all the persons at group of Yahoo:

www.groups.yahoo.com/group/ZuidHolland-Genealogy/

He reacts with information of Maria Bodijn, she was a daughter of Pieter Pietersz Boidin and Maria Cousin.
Pieter Boidin (later Bodijn) was born in Armentieres, now France (this is I also found at your site) about 1565, his parents escape from there after the “beeldenstorm” (iconolatry, I think it taken place in 1566. I hope that you understand what I mean, otherwise you can ask it and I can try to explain it better) to Sandwich (England) and at 1580 they sellte themselves at Leiden. When Maria was born is unknown.

This above is what Jan Bedijn wrote me in a email.

Why am I interested: Maria Bodijn remarried in 1651 with Gerrit KNUIJSTINGH one person who is for me interesting because a think he was also what you call “ fairly well-off” at later moment sold he his house at my grand-grand….father that is where I want to know more about.

And when a study your scans I saw his name at page c.2 at last 6 lines from the underside of the page 2 times and also at page b.3 at line 9. So you see at that point you have helped me already without knowing it.

At this moment I take a course for Old Dutch writings to read. This material is a very good opportunity to study so when a can I will decipher it.

And of course I have a question for you, is it possible to mail me the best possible scans of your pages, to begin white the A - Will of husband and wife, April 2, 1643

We have what we in Holland call a ADLS connection so I think that the size of the mails not have to been a problem.

Met vriendelijke groet,

Ad Knuisting Neven

Here's an image of his wife's birth certificate. Much appreciation to Marianne van den Broek for sending me this:

Maria's Birth Certificate

It seems to maybe say she was born at some date in June of 1576, but I cannot read it. If anybody can discipher this, please let me know what it says.
