Notes for: Milton H. Bodine

Milton is buried near or next to Ida M. Bodine (1865-1937) in the Ashland Cemetery in the village of Wellsburg, Ashland, Chemung Co., NY. There is also another Bodine couple there: Hezekiah W. (1859-1930) and Libbe O. (1878-1921). Maybe he is Milton's brother.

Here is a message I got from Denise Oliver-Velez:

I responded:

Hi Denise,

Thanks for the excellent information. The only missing link here is how do you know that Milton H. Bodine is Eli H. Bodine's father? That source would be important to include in this information.

Thanks,
Dave

Hi Dave,
Sorry - left that out.

In 1930 Eli H is listed in Chemung - born Wisconsin father PA. His oldest son is named Milton.

In 1920 Eli H and Milton (senior) seem to be on same property poor next door in Chemung:

BODINE, MILTON (1920 U.S. Census)
New York , CHEMUNG, CHEMUNG, Age 65, Male, Race: White, Born: PA
Series: T625 Roll: 1092 Page: 44

BODINE, ELI H (1920 U.S. Census)
New York , CHEMUNG, CHEMUNG, Age 22, Male, Race: White, Born: WI
Series: T625 Roll: 1092 Page: 44

On actual record he is 32 though index says 22..

n 1910 Eli H is listed as 22 year old son in household of Milton H Bodine:

BODINE, MILTON H (1910 U.S. Census)
New York , CHEMUNG, CHEMUNG, Age 53, Male, Race: White, Born: PA
Series: T624 Roll: 931 Page: 55

From Ronny Bodine:

Milton Bodine, age 15 in 1870 and 25 in 1880, lived with his parents in Bridgewater, Susquehanna Co., Penn. in 1870 and in 1880 in Liberty, Susquehanna Co., Penn. Milton and Ida Bodine were living 1900-1930 in Chemung, Chemung County engaged in farming. In 1910, Milton reported that in 25 years of marriage Ida had borne 3 children, all then living. In 1920, Milton and Ida Bodine lived next door to their son Eli and his family. Milton and Ida Bodine were buried in Ashland Cemetery, Wellsburg, Chemung County. The records of Ashland Cemetery record the burial of Ida Bodine on 12 Dec 1937. Although the 1900 census records the birth dates of Milton Bodine as Aug 1858 and that of Ida Bodine as Feb 1868, their grave markers record the years of their births as 1855 and 1865 respectively.
