Notes for: Joseph Bodine, Sr.

Info on this family comes from the 1880 Census of Oxford, Warren Co., NJ. Joseph is a farmer, age 45 and born in NJ, as well as his parents. His wife is Christian Bodine. She is 39 and born in PA. Her father was born in PA and her mother in NJ.

Michael Gesner says this is the Joseph Bodine who married Christian _____. They appear on the 1880 Census of Warren County, New Jersey (v. 21, ed. 204, sh. 11, ln. 1). He is 45. Christian is 39 and their children were Irving (18), Albert (16), Adam (14), Robert (12), Sarah (9), William (7), and Joseph (2).

I believe I found this same Joseph Bodine in the Hazen Cemetery located in Oxford Twp., Warren Co., NJ. Joseph's dates are September 2, 1834 to February 24, 1905. His wife is Christian Miller. Her dates are January 1, 1840 to May 7, 1904. There are a bunch of Millers buried in this cemetery, too. I'm sure some are Christian's family.

From Ronny Bodine:

Joseph Bodine lived with his family 1870 in Chuckatuck Township, Montgomery County, Virginia, and 1880-1900 in Oxford Township, Warren County, New Jersey engaged in farming. In 1900, Joseph Bodine reported that in 40 years of marriage his wife, Christiana, had borne 7 children of whom 6 were then living. The census also reported the couple's exact birthdates as 3 Jan 1834 for Joseph and 1 Jan 1841 for Christiana. Joseph and Christian Bodine were buried in Hazen Cemetery, Oxford Township, Warren County.
