Dave:

Nice to meet you - thanks for the response! Here is some more information:

My grandfather was born in 1892 in New Auburn Minnesota (Robert Bodine). He married Loella Seiter. My father is not positive about his heritage, but believes he is of German descent and my grandfather spoke fluent German. As far as church - my father does not know for sure, but does not believe he was raised catholic. He never talked about his family much to my father. What little we know is that Robert Bodine's (my grandfather) father was John Bodine JR and is belived to have owned a saloon in the Twin Cities area. Either John Bodine JR or John Bodine SR married an Elizabeth. Also one of them married a Planker as we have the name Peter Planker as a Father in law for the Bodine side. That is about all we have, although my parents are still looking for more information.

Thanks! Great website by the way..

John Bodine (I was not named for my great grandfather - just a coincidence)

From Ronny Bodine:

Luella (Seiter) Bodine was the daughter of Adolph Gustaf and Louise A. (Bierbaum) Seiter.

Hey Dave,

... I can see there may have been come confusion as to Robert's father being an Adolph since his wife's father had the name and a grandchild may have gotten mixed up as to where Adolph fit in the family tree. If Robert's parents were German they did not have a name remotely close to Bodine. ... There were no candidates of a Robert or any name living in New Auburn, Minnesota in 1900 who fit the known facts. Anyway, he is of a German line...
