Mr. and Mrs. Jerald Eugene Bodine, who were married secretly last September in Tijuana, Mexico, repeated their marriage vows Friday evening in a civil ceremony held at the home of the bride's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Paul Frame, Sunset Beach.

Bodine, Marian, servant of our Lord Jesus, went to be with Him, January 22, 2008. She was preceded in death by her husband and partner in ministry, Jerold Bodine. Marian had six children, Julie Hoyt, John Hayes (deceased), Jeri Anne Dowell, Troy Bodine, Tim Bodine and Susan Williams. She was a missionary and researcher for Christian Research Institiute for 32 years and belonged to the 1st Baptist Church of Garden Grove. "For me to live is Christ and to die is gain." Fairhaven Memorial Park.


Jerold Bodine played football at Orange Coast College before enlisting in the U.S. Army in 1953. Jerold and Nancy Bodine had been married secretly in Sept 1952 in Tijuana, Mexico. See the Long Beach "Independent Press-Telegram" of 8 Feb 1953 for an account of their wedding on 6 Feb 1953 in Sunset Beach. Jerry and Marian Bodine were associated with the Christian Research Institute, which, according to its mission statement (www.equip.org) was established "To provide Christians worldwide with carefully researched information and well-reasoned answers that encourage them in their faith and equip them to intelligently represent it to people influenced by ideas and teachings that assault or undermine orthodox, biblical Christianity. " Marian coauthored, with Ron Rhodes, "Reasoning from the Scriptures with the Mormons," Harvest House, 1995.

Jerold Eugene Bodine, 62, of Garden Grove, a Los Angeles fireman, died Wednesday of a heart attack. Visitation from 6 to 8 p.m. today at Fairhaven Memorial Park Mortuary, Santa Ana. Services at 11 a.m. Saturday at Zion Christian Center, Orange. Survived by his wife, Marian; daughters, Marian Williams of Garden Grove, Julia Hoyt of Arkansas, Paula Bodine of Redding and Jeri Dowell of Yucaipa; sons, John Hayes of Garden Grove, Timothy Bodine of Santa Ana and Troy Bodine of Lake Elsinore; brothers, Louis, of Florida, Thomas, of Twentynine Palms, and David, of Escondido; sisters, Barbara Davidson and Shirley Pearle, both of Seal Beach, and Sandra Bodine; 19 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
