Mr. and Mrs. E. O. CONANT of Main Street East, Waterloo, announces the marriage of their daughter, Miss Edna Jane CONANT, to J. Seward BODINE of Waterloo, son of former County Judge George F. BODINE and Mrs. BODINE of Rochester.

The names of their three children come from the 1943 update of the E. P. Bodine booklet.

WATERLOO---A memorial service for Court of Claims Judge J. Seward Bodine, 82, of 108 Virginia St., who died early yesterday in Naples, Fla. will be here at a time still to be announced. Arrangements are in charge of the Mull Funeral Home, 113 Virginia St. Mrs. Edna Bodine, who with her late husband left Wednesday by plane for Florida vacation, is expected home Friday night. Accompanying her is her son, Peter V. Bodine, who served as his father's clerk in the Court of Claims. The youth talked to his parents last Wednesday after their arrival in the south. An autopsy was performed yesterday in Florida to determine the cause of death. Judge Bodine reportedly had been in ill health this past year. He is the second of two wellknown Republicans to die wilhin the past several weeks. In early December, a heart attack took the life of Mrs. Alice Hopkins, chairman of the Seneca County Republican Committee. A lifelong resident of Waterloo and a member of the bar since 1928 Judge Bodine was elevated to the Court of Claims bench in September of 1951. Previous to that, he had served 12 years as Seneca County judge and surrogate. Judge Bodine held law degrees from Columbia University. His father had been district attorney and county judge in Seneca County before him and his uncle, Huge V. N. Bodine, was county judge and surrogate of Chautauqua County. Judge Bodine served as village attorney for more than 20 years until his election as county judge in 1949. He was elected district attorney in 1934 and served for nine years, when he became county attorney in 1943 for two years. He was a member and trustee of the First Presbyterian Church here, the Waterloo Board of Education for nine years, ending as president of the board for one year in 1948. He also was a director of the Waterloo Memorial Hospital and played an important role in the building and planning of the new Taylor-Brown Memorial Hospital. Judge Bodine also had been active in the American Red Cross, the Chamber of Commerce and other community affairs. He was a member of the Seneca County and New York State Bar Associations and belonged to Beta Theta Pi, college fraternity, the Red Jacket Club and the Columbia University Club in New York. Also surviving are another son, George, of Liverpool; a daughter, Miss Mary C. Bodine of Rochester, and five grandchildren.

WATERLOO---Mrs. Edna C. Bodine, 69, of 108 Virginia St., widow of Court of Claims Judge J. Seward Bodine, died Monday afternoon at Taylor-Brown Memorial Hospital following a brief illness. A life resident of this community, she was a member of the Waterloo Presbyterian Church and the Red Jacket Yacht Club. Her late husband also served as Seneca County Judge prior to his elevation to the Court of Claims. Surviving are two sons, George E. Bodine of Syracuse and Peter Bodine, a Waterloo attorney; one daughter, Miss Mary C. Bodine of Rochester. Private services will be at the convenience of the family. There will be no calling hours. Arrangements are being handled by the Mull Funeral Home, 113 Virginia St. Memorial contributions, in lieu of flowers, may be made to the Presbyterian Church, Taylor-brown Hospital or Eisenhower College.

You have the name of my grandfather wrong. He was Not James Seward Bodine. The J stood for Jones, so his name was Jones Seward Bodine. And my grandmother Edna was either Edna Jane or Jennie know is really sure.
