In June 1900, Charles and Stella Adair lived in Marshall, Lyon County, Minnesota working as a well driller. They reported that in 4 years of marriage Stella had borne 2 children, but only their son Cecil lived. Residents still of Marshall, Lyon County in Jan 1920, in April 1930 they lived in Lake Shore, Cass County, Minnesota.

Mrs. Mary Stella Adair, wife of Charles Adair, Pequot Lakes, died this morning at the age of 72 at the St. Joseph's hospital, Brainerd. Mrs. Adair was born April 30, 1876, at Austin, Minn. Surviving here are her husband, Charles Adair, Pequot Lakes; three sons, R. C. Adair, Morton, N.D., H.S. Adair, Brainerd, Kenneth Adair, Brainerd; two daughters, Mrs. L. P. Carrow, Marshall, Minn., Mrs. James Guell, Renton, Wash., and five sisters. Funeral services for Mrs. Adair will be held from the St. Francis Catholic church Saturday, Oct. 16, at 10:40 a.m. Interment will be in the Evergreen cemetery in Brainerd. The Rev. Father Thomas Scott will officiate. Rosary services will be held tonight at 9 p.m. at the Hoenig funeral home.

Funeral services for Charles Adair, 219 South Second street, who died at St. Joseph's hospital Sunday, will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Hoenig's funeral chapel. The Rev. Father Thomas Scott will officiate and interment will be in Evergreen cemetery. Mr. Adair was born Jan. 13, 1868, in Kansas. Surviving are three sons, Roland Adair, Walcott, N.D.; Harold Adair and Kenneth Adair, both of Brainerd; two daughters, Mrs. L. P. Carrow, Marshall, and Mrs. James Guill, Renton, Wash.; one sister, Mrs. Norman Harrison, route five. Friends may call from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. tonight and from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m. Wednesday at the Hoenig chapel. [Note: Charles Adair was not born in Kansas. The censuses from 1900 to 1940 all list Wisconsin as his place of birth.]
