Notes for: Elizabeth 'Louise' Bodine

This is Heather Brown's (hlb at hotmail.com) great-grandmother. She knows that Louise married twice, but that was about all she has found out. Louise and Harvey had three children: Ethel (m. Frederick Reif), Leslie, and Clyde. Louise and Charles Irish had one child: Lois Ramona Irish. She was born in 1905 according to her birth certificate, but the year is normally known to be 1906.

From Ronny Bodine:

1st marriage--1887--HARVEY H. ADAIR.
From: An Illustrated History of Lyon County, Minnesota, by Arthur P. Rose, 1912, p. 557.
Harvey H. Adair is a well driller and a dealer in windmills and pumps in Marshall. He was born in Green County, Wisconsin May 23, 1866...On January 4, 1887 at Carthage, South Dakota, occured the marriage of Mr. Adair to Louise Boudine. To this union were born the folowing children: Ethel, Clyde and Leslie. Mr. Adair was married a second time at Northville, South Dakota on January 24, 1905 to Magdaline Pluman, a native of Minneapolis. They have two children: Margaret and Angeline.

In June 1900, Harvey and Louise Adair lived with their 3 children in Lake Marshall Township, Lyon County, Minnesota. Harvey worked in farming and Louisa was a dressmaker. In 12 years of marriage, Louisa had borne 3 children, all then living. It is clear that Harvey and Louise divorced as both subsequently remarried. Harvey was living April 1930 in Suffolk, Fergus County, Montana.

Children of Louise Bodine and Harvey Adair: Ethel May (March 1889), Clyde C. (April 1891), Leslie W. (5 March 1898).

2nd marriage--1905--CHARLES ALBERT IRISH.
In April 1910, Charles and Louise Irish lived in Minneapolis, Hennepin County, Minnesota. The couple reported that in 6 years of marriage Louise had borne one child, then living with them. Charles Irish was engaged as a butcher which occupation he was still employed in Jan 1920. In April 1930, Louise Irish reported she was widowed and still living in Minneapolis, but in 1940 she is reported as divorced. Her husband had relocated to Iowa as noted in the 1923 Minneapolis City Directory:

The 1921 city directory of Minneapolis, MN lists Charles A. & Louise Irish at 3446 Dupont Avenue. That of 1923 lists Louise Irish, widow of Charles, at the same address. But the same directory also lists Chas. A. Irish moved to Mason City, Iowa. He eventually settled in Spokane, Washington.
