Joy N. Bodine, 98, Michigan City, IN, passed away Friday, October 31, 2014 at 11:50 a.m. in Sterling House of Michigan City. Private family services will be conducted and burial will take place in Greenwood. There will be no visitation. The Ott/Haverstock Funeral Chapel, Michigan City, IN is handling arrangements. She was born May 3, 1916 in Michigan City , IN to Joseph and Mary (Chwialkowski) Nawrocki . On February 14, 1944 in West Palm Beach, Florida she married Charles Bodine who preceded her on October 21, 1951. Surviving are 20 nieces and nephews who she loved very much and was in touch with all of them. She was preceded in death by three sisters, Bea Montalto, Sue Heatherson and Lottie Hullings. Joy retired in 1978 after 16 years in customer service at First Merchants National Bank now known as Horizon Bank. She also was an excellent seamstress having worked for Russell Kramer. Joy loved to travel especially on cruises. When in Paris she went up in the Eiffel Tower, in Rome she visited the Sistine Chapel. She was on the Rock of Gibraltar and cruised the Hawaiian Islands on the same ship that carried Grace Kelly to Monaco to marry Prince Ranier and also visited Princess Grace's grave in Monaco. On a cruise aboard the Queen Elizabeth II she went through the Panama Canal and in Los Angeles danced in the arms of Lawrence Welk, plus many other interesting experiences on her many travels. Contributions may be made to the donor's choice.

Charles Bodine, 41, a resident of Tucson for three years, died Sunday morning in a local hospital. He was in the restaurant business and lived at 212 East Aviation drive. He is survived by his wife, Joy, of Tucson, two daughters, Mrs. Joan Okerstrom, and Mrs. Sylvia Londen, both of Chicago, and three brothers, George and Joseph, of Ft. Wayne, Ind., and Alfred, of Michigan City, Ind. Rosary services were held last night at the Arizona Mortuary chapel. The body will be sent today to Michigan City for funeral and burial services.
